Presentation: Monitoring performance in the ART lab – The Clinician’s perspective.

Abstract:              

The IVF lab is at the core of ART practice. Lab performance should be regularly assessed through key performance indexes in the context of a quality management system. Within such a context it is important to recognise the clinical factors that have an impact on lab outcomes, and also examine this interaction by highlighting the influence of lab performance on clinical decision making and clinical practice. Communicating this interaction between clinicians and embryologists is important not only to interpret treatment outcomes, it also provides a valid basis for counselling patients interested in undertaking infertility treatment.
